Peter stepped from the shadow of the corridor into the torchlight, coming up at Susan's left side. Although the celebration had been a huge affair, all but drowning Peter in glory as Narnia's exalted High King, he'd left his crown behind in his quarters, though he still kept Rhindon belted at his hip. Prudent lessons, hard learned.
Naturally he'd been appraised of events during his absence, and had sat powerless to lend any aid, already deeply engaged in his campaign far to the North. To say he'd been absolutely furious upon his return to Cair Paravel, despite arriving on a wave of high victory, was a gross understatement.
But, regardless of his rage, he'd clamped down on his royal ire and focused on what he could control, but the time for that particular reckoning had come. Peter had been mulling over various responses for most of the evening, and Susan's opening sally defined his reply.
Exhaling a soft resigned sigh, Peter simply placed his hands behind his back and gazed out over the dark sea, answering calmly, "I don't think that's necessary, really."
